Job PurposeManage the development of large-scale, customer-driven electric capital projects to ensure least cost, fit for purpose, deliverable designs that meet customer needs, tariff requirements and delivery expectations.
Working in the Project Development team this position will collaborate with Customer Energy Integration and Asset Management functions to determine the forecasted workload and align the required Project Development resources needed to develop this portfolio.
The position will be responsible for:
-Providing leadership & guidance to the Project Development team and key stakeholders to ensure adherence to the company's Network Development process and the highest standards of health, safety, environmental, security and quality.
-The planning, management and governance of critical customer-driven complex electric capital projects.
-Driving efficiencies by optimizing the design and development of projects based on resources (people, materials, access, permissions), costs, and schedules.
-Developing key performance indicators to drive and measure team performance.
- Company representative for Project Development specific tasks.
Will require coordination and communication with Customers, Regulatory and Government Agencies.
Key Accountabilities1.
Inspire and deliver new ways of working collaboratively within the business; driving efficiency and performance excellence as well as matrix working with and through functions and processes to ensure maximum value and achievement of long-term challenges.

Manage implementation of the frameworks, policies, procedures and controls necessary to drive an efficient and effective approach to project development and design that optimizes the success of Electric customer driven complex capital projects.

Act as the focal point for Electric project development activities for development and delivery of customer driven complex capital projects within Capital Delivery.
4.
Prioritize and allocate work to internal and external project design teams and contractors, continuing to work closely to ensure that transitioned developing projects maintain their original objectives, allocated resourcing and cost objectives.
5.
Facilitate and encourage the introduction of new technologies and innovative solutions to improve the delivery of customer driven capital projects safely, on time, and in accordance with regulations, tariff requirements, policies and procedures.
6.
Develop external resourcing strategy for development and design resource in order to ensure high levels of efficiency, service and quality and to build innovation and best practice.
7.
In partnership with Director of Project Development, identify and build future design capability and resources to support the Electric customer driven complex capital project plan, ensuring a fit for purpose approach, succession planning and training.
8.
Recruit, develop and empower highly motivated, capable and adequately resourced project development teams, building talent and a professional, consistent and informed approach in order to design value projects in line with agreed requirements.
9.
Manage Project Development supporting activities to ensure efficient and on time delivery.
10.
This position requires travel within National Grid US New England territory.
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; Safety Plan development & quarterly updates, Director Hub facilitation & management, Business Continuity Plan development, Risk Register, Business Management System (BMS) compliance, creation of Executive level presentations, coordination and facilitation of Project Development staff meetings, scheduling/ coordination/ facilitation of Network Development process stage gate review meetings including creation/distribution/management of meeting minutes and action items.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience RequiredDemonstrate a high level of personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
Ability to lead and manage your colleagues in a collaborative learning atmosphere that produces successful results.
QualificationsProven leader with extensive experience, specialized knowledge, outstanding competence.

years of experience in large scale complex electric infrastructure projects, operations engineering, project management, utility construction or equivalent relevant experience.
A Bachelor's degree required in an engineering or project management related discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and/or construction experience.
Master's degree in engineering discipline, MBA or relevant equivalent preferred.
Preference given to candidates with a Professional Engineer's license and/or Certified Project Management Professional.
Familiarity with the Network Development Process a plus.
Considerable proven experience managing remote teams, influencing stakeholders, project development, project management and design including milestone management, resourcing, affordability, risk management and reporting.
Demonstrate a high level of leadership, change management, personal initiative, integrity and ability to interact with external customers, company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
Knowledge of applicable tariff regulations related to Distributed Generation, Transmission Interconnection and other large-scale electric customer projects.
Familiarity with system operations, engineering, environmental, engineering economics, and familiarity with legal, purchasing, and utility accounting regulations.
Ability to prioritize work and manage teams with multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
Bottom-line oriented, budget conscious, metric/measurement driven.
Ability to create a high performing team culture whereby team members are able to discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on employee development and process continuous improvement.
Strong skills in:
communications (oral & written) including delivering difficult conversations, stakeholder engagement, project management, executive level presentation, interpersonal skills, critical analysis and capable of leading and influencing teams, and gaining support and commitment from internal and external stakeholders.
Valid driver's license required.
